CTL encourages anyone teaching at Penn — from senior faculty to new teaching assistants, from those who excel and may want to try new ideas to those looking to improve— to consult with our staff. Consultations can focus on any aspects of interest to the instructor, from designing a course to leading a class, from specific questions to broad support for development. These consultations are confidential and non-evaluative. CTL hopes to help instructors find what works for them in the classroom.
These non-evaluative consultations may address any number of topics, including but not limited to:
Preparing a class
Organizing a lecture
Leading discussions or problem-solving recitations
Setting standards for and grading student work.
