How to Support Struggling Students

Convener: Taylor Dysart, CETLI Graduate Fellow, History & Sociology of Science

This past year students have faced myriad challenges, ranging from the routine to the truly unprecedented. While students have continued to demonstrate their resiliency despite these challenges, this year will continue to test students and their instructors. What role do graduate student instructors play in supporting struggling students? When and how can graduate student instructors advocate on behalf of their students? What are the resources available for students who are struggling with their workload or who require the support of mental health professionals? In this session, we will address these questions, explore different scenarios, and discuss which tools and resources would be most helpful for our students.

TA Training Follow Up Workshop (for new TAs in SAS). All graduate students are welcome.
