Leading Effective Problem-Solving Recitations

Convener: Sheng Gao, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Statistics

Problem-solving recitations are essential for students to gain further understanding about formulas and concepts they have learned in class, especially in STEM and quantitative social science fields. The goal of such recitations goes beyond merely solving a set of questions. As instructors, it is important to carefully design a representative set of examples and manage time wisely during the recitation. Building on the foundation laid in TA Training, in this workshop we will consider various strategies for leading productive and engaging recitations, including managing group dynamics. Participants will draw on their experiences thus far to think through some typical scenarios that TAs encounter.

TA Training Follow Up Workshop (for new TAs in SAS). All graduate students are welcome.
