Motivating Students to Prepare for Class

Convener: Rui Castro, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Architecture

In this session, we will discuss ways to motivate students to prepare for class. We will take an overarching perspective reflecting on the reasons for students’ class-preparation (or lack thereof), how to motivate class preparation habits, and how to structure the class to assure that class preparation is relevant. We will take into consideration different class types and the benefits and pitfalls associated with different preparation strategies.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate. Also counts as a follow-up workshop for SAS participants in TA Training.
