PowerPoint v. Chalk Talk

Convener: Joe Cooke, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Mechanical Engineering & Applied Mechanics

When preparing material to present to students we must decide which method(s) will be most effective for student learning. Two popular methods for this are PowerPoint presentations and board work but they both have advantages and drawbacks depending on the situation. In this session we shall explore various cases and scenarios in which slide presentations, board work, and sometimes a mix of the two, are harnessed to create cohesive lectures that make an impact.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate.
