Reflecting on Radical Pedagogy: From Philly to Portland, a Conversation about Education, Art and Activism

Facilitator: Kristina Lewis, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Education
Convener: Professors Amalia Dache, Education (UPenn), Lisa Jarrett, Community & Context Art (Portland State University), Philadelphia Artist/Educator Malkia Okech and Philadelphia Artist Jaamil Olawale Kosoko

Radical pedagogy invites us to view teaching as a collective experience that transcends space and disciplinary boundaries. Reflecting on their collaborative teaching experience engaging Jaamil Olawale Kosoko’s Syllabus for Peace, during the 2020 Fringe Arts Living Installments, 4 artists and educators come together to discuss highlights of engaging Philadelphia and Portland community members during and after major activism in their cities.

Participants are encouraged to review panelist videos at https://fringearts.com/event/american-chameleon-the-living-installments/ ahead of the workshop.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate. This event grows out of concerns in the Education department and so may be most useful to students in related fields.
