Just as scaffolding allows workers to climb from the ground to the top of a building, so do “scaffolding assignments” provide students a learning structure that progresses from simple to complex. This workshop focuses on breaking down complex and difficult assignments into sequential “scaffolding” tasks. We will address strategies for creating effective short tasks, tailored to master and strengthen a skill, and how to sequence them towards a bigger project.
