Surviving (or Thriving) When Teaching Online

Facilitator: Shivajee Govind, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Chemistry
Convener: Judith Curanno, Head, Chemistry Library

We will hold a candid conversation about the challenges that online teaching presents us and how we can overcome them. We will begin by discussing some techniques for managing student expectations and setting personal boundaries, and then we will move on to discuss time management in the online classroom and ways of keeping students engaged during online classes and recitations. Anyone who has taught since Penn moved to online instruction last March is encouraged to bring successes (or even failures) to the discussion!

All graduate students are welcome. This event grows out of concerns in the Chemistry department and so may be most useful to students in related fields.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate.
