Teaching Audio Material: Why and How

Facilitator: Elizabeth Bynum, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Music
Convener: Professor Anna Weesner, Music

What pedagogical work do we want music listening to accomplish in the classroom? This workshop will be open to considerations of how we select listenings for class or for pre-class assignments, and importantly, how we prepare students to engage with audio material. Through this conversation, we will discuss how our teaching guides student listening perspectives, and consider how we evaluate students’ listening practices in our assignments and exams across subfields.

All graduate students are welcome. This event grows out of concerns in the Music department and so may be most useful to students in related fields.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate.
