Teaching International Students

Convener: Kathryn Hasz, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Materials Science and Engineering

With the ever-increasing globalization of our world, it is becoming more and more likely that you will teach students from other countries. In this workshop, we plan on discussing some of the challenges that may come with this, such as language barriers, cultural norms, and differing expectations, and strategies for overcoming them.

Are you tired of the usual reading responses and research papers? Or perhaps you’re looking to tap a broader range of student abilities and enthusiasms? In this workshop, we’ll think about how to encourage creativity without sacrificing rigor. Learn how to mix up your assignments while ensuring your students are still learning the skills and material they need to.
