Using Technology to Maximize Student Engagement

Convener: Alex Miller, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Operations, Information & Decisions

Technology has the potential to both enhance and detract from students’ educational experience. From chalkboards to smartphone apps, instructors have numerous tools to choose from when trying to enrich their classrooms. What is the effect of these various technologies on student learning? What is their effect on how students engage with course material? Are modern technologies changing the way students learn? In this workshop, we will discuss these topics and review the results of some recent research to deepen our understanding of how teachers can use technology to achieve their instructional goals.
