What are ABCS Courses? A Conversation about Teaching and Community Partnership in West Philadelphia

Facilitator: Natalia Aponte Borges, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Earth & Environmental Science
Convener: Maria Antonia Andrews, Associate Director of Undergraduate Programs, Earth & Environmental Science, and Anna Balfanz, ABCS Coordinator, Netter Center

NOTE NEW DATE! Academically Based Community Service (ABCS) is at the core of the Netter Center’s work. ABCS students and faculty work with the Netter Center and West Philadelphia public schools to help solve critical campus and community problems such as those related to health and the environment. Our goals during this workshop are to introduce graduate students to ABCS courses, the requirements of a TA in these courses, and ethical partnership during community-engaged teaching.

All graduate students are welcome. This event grows out of concerns in the Earth & Environmental Sciences department and so may be most useful to students in related fields.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate.
