Two weeks before a fraught election day, amidst a contentious election season, this discussion will explore ideas and practices to keep in mind regarding teaching our students in the run-up to the election and in the days or weeks that follow. Sigal Ben-Porath of Education, Anne Berg of History and Rogers Smith of Political Science will consider some of the challenges the election and its possible aftermaths may pose – from how to handle contention in the classroom, to students upset or endangered by the outcome, to the role of teaching when the world feels so uncertain.
