Grants Available for Penn Faculty
These grants provide support for faculty interested in transforming an existing course or developing a new courses that use a Structured Active In-Class Learning (SAIL) format. SAIL classes emphasize the active engagement of students in class through structured work, guided by the instructor.
The Price Lab course development grants can be used to develop a new course or retool an existing one. These grants aim to foster an enlarged curriculum in digital approaches to history, art, and culture and to provide more opportunities for humanities students to acquire skills in the use of digital tools and methods.
These grants are intended to support faculty in designing new courses or modifying existing ones to incorporate a substantial new component of museum-based learning.
The Barbara and Edward Netter Center for Community Partnerships sponsors course development grants to promote Academically Based Community Service (ABCS) courses that integrate research, teaching, learning and service. While the call for grants comes out in the spring, these grants are awarded on a rolling basis.
The Online Learning Initiative (OLI) invites faculty to submit proposals for development of a MOOC, a series of MOOCs (a Coursera Specialization or edX XSeries) or a digital content project. Courses may resemble an existing course or be an entirely new course and may be taught individually or jointly with additional faculty members.
The Joseph H. Lauder Institute will award up to two grants, each up to $3,500, to assist members of Penn’s faculty to prepare new graduate-level courses in International Studies. We are especially interested in courses that engage one or more of the following themes: Natural resources, Technology, Varieties of Finance, Varieties of Consumption and Well-Being, Sustainability and Other Topics of an International or Comparative Nature.
