POSTPONED: Increasing DEI with Engaging and Effective-learning Strategies in the Geosciences

Facilitator: Natalia Aponte Borges, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Earth & Environmental Science
Convener: Dr. Jane Dmochowski, Earth & Environmental Science

What does good teaching look like? And how do we create a diverse and inclusive environment for the most effective and engaging learning? Active-learning methods can be an avenue for inclusive learning in geosciences. There is evidence that these methods improve diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the classroom in STEM and geosciences. We will discuss active-learning strategies that aim to teach and engage ALL undergraduates in the geosciences in this workshop.

All graduate students are welcome. This event grows out of concerns in the Earth & Environmental Sciences department and so may be most useful to students in related fields.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate.
